The Catholic Spirituality Network (CSN) is one of the denominational member groups of the Retreat Association. The Network began in 1967 and was formerly known as the National Retreat Movement (NRM) and latterly the Catholic Network for Retreats and Spirituality (CNRS).
It exists to promote the awareness of retreats and to help people develop their own spiritual life within the Catholic Community of England, Wales and Scotland.
The 2017 Conference was held at the Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, Derbyshire over the weekend of 17-19 March. It was entitled The Word in the World: reading the Scriptures in Hard Times.
Our main speakers were Pádraig Ó Tuama, leader of the inter-denominational Corrymeela Community in Belfast, and Susan Docherty, Professor of New Testament and Early Judaism at Newman University, Birmingham. Pádraig and Susan helped us explore and re-imagine ways in which Scripture can be a resource in the face of difficult contemporary issues and the complexity of the modern world. Further exploration of the theme took place in discussion workshops facilitated by CSN members.
