The Catholic Spirituality Network (CSN) is one of the denominational member groups of the Retreat Association. The Network began in 1967 and was formerly known as the National Retreat Movement (NRM) and latterly the Catholic Network for Retreats and Spirituality (CNRS).
It exists to promote the awareness of retreats and to help people develop their own spiritual life within the Catholic Community.
Our March 2019 Conference, Winding the Way, was led by Dr Michael Kirwan SJ. We explored what it means to live a spiritual life with the help of Jesuit poet, Gerard Manley Hopkins, and the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola.
We traced ways in which the themes of the Spiritual Exercises appear in the Hopkins poems, and can help us in our own daily lives and in our accompaniment of others on their way. The liturgy was led by Magdalen Lawler SND and Tom McGuinness SJ, who opened up the themes to a contemplative dimension in a way which was greatly appreciated by participants.
